19 Oil Workers Reported Dead As Helicopter Crashes

Helicopter carrying 19 oil workers have been reported to have crashed 45 kilometers north east of Staryi Urengoi. It took off from Vankor and crashed in the Yamalo-Nenets region.

The Helicopter is a Russian Mi-8 that is extensively used worldwide. It has been used by the Soviet and Russia since the 1960s.

The Helicopter was found lying on its side. The Federal Air Transport Agency said all 3 crew members and 16 passengers all confirmed dead.

Strong winds and poor visibility may have been the cause of the crash the Agency said.
