10 oil workers going about their daily activities in an offshore platform off the coast of Azerbaijan have been swept into the sea. This occurred when a 90mph (145kph) wind dislodged a 150meter (490-foot) section of walkway causing it to fall into the sea.
In a released official statement, it was said that a body had been found and the search and rescue operations are still looking for the remaining nine.
According to a Spokesperson for SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company, he said five victims working on the installation and another five in the cabin were dislodged by the strong winds.
