President Muhammadu Buhari arrives Nigeria on the 10th of March, 2017. The President arrived at 7:41am at the Nigerian Airforce base in Mundo Abuja. It is recalled the president traveled on the 29th of January for medical reasons. Furthermore, the Commander in Chief also wrote to the national assembly to extend his stay in London indefinitely. This led to rumors of the president being dead. However some Nigerian citizens and other well wishers continue to confirm and affirm he was alive.
On arriving the country on the Nigerian Air Force Plane, the Kaduna State Deputy Governor Bala Bantex received him alongside GOC 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, the Air Officer Commanding,Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshall Christopher Okoye, the Commissioner of police and other dignitaries.
The president walked approximately 50metres to a waiting Helicopter and flew to Abuja. He landed in the Helipad located in the Presidential Villa in less than hour. He addressed the brief meeting held in the first lady conference room.
Buhari said he had never been this sick all his life “I deliberately came back towards the weekend so that the vice-president will continue and I will continue to rest.” In addition he made it known that he needed further rest “all I need is to do further follow-ups within some weeks.”
The president didn’t disclose any diagnosis of his ailment, he only said “I couldn’t recall when last I had a blood transfusion,”. Moreover he added “Blood transfusions, going to the laboratories and so on and forth.” His aides also did not disclose any information as regards his health. This is lead to high suspicion that the illness must have been worse than admitted.
This makes it exactly 49 days the president left Nigeria. President Muahammadu made the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo the Acting President. During this period, the acting president warmed his way into the hearts of Nigerians. He chaired several meetings, visited the Niger Delta region to ease pressures, finished work on securing world bank loan to name a few.
