A notable Yoruba actor, author, playwright and ifa traditionalist, Yemi Elebuibon has some words of advice for the ex-queen, Olori Wuraola.
Following the separation between the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Olori Wuraola, Professor Yemi Elebuibon, the highly respected and popular ifa worshipper says the former Olori must perform some rites against any unpleasant occurrence in the future.
The veteran, who is also a visiting Professor of Ifa Methodology at Chicago State University, USA stresses the fact that any woman formerly married to an Oba is expected to go through some spiritual cleansing in order to have a peaceful and enjoyable marital bliss thereafter.
Speaking to the SUN, he said;
“The wife of the Oba would be asked to consult ifa and ifa would give directions on how she will make the necessary atonement for her cleansing. In Yoruba tradition, a woman who was once married to a king cannot lay with any other man even if the marriage breaks up. But after the right and proper atonements have been made, there wouldn’t be any problem”.
Elebuibon continued by listing the probable challenges that he ex-Oba’s wife might face;
“For the woman, she might not really have problems, but for any man who sleeps with the queen or remarries the queen without the appropriate cleansing, the man might die prematurely, he might be struck with sickness, or there might be retrogression in his life”.
He explained further that the ex-queen would have to perform the rites with the new husband/man in order to avoid any future problem.
“Any marriage she would be going into must not be elaborate. They should go far away and avoid having a flamboyant wedding”.
