The African Democratic Congress (ADC) vows to enthrone a new generation of leaders in 2019 especially after the party received the former President Olusegun Obasanjo-led Coalition of Nigerian Movement (CNM) into its fold.
Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, the National Chairman of ADC said;
“It is a known fact that the government of All Progress Congress, APC, has failed in the core responsibilities of any government as the security and welfare of the people have deteriorated monumentally. We are committed to using ADC to bring Ndigbo back to the mainstream and national politics. In this regard, we pledge to work and put in our best effort and resources to colour the South East with ADC.
We shall use the ADC symbol of a handshake to reach out to every Nigerian to bring back friendship, love, unity of purpose, and use power in our diversity to make Nigeria a model for Africa, investors’ haven, and the darling of the world. We remain committed to the avowed vision of the leaders of this country from the North West, North East, North Central, South West, South- South and South East to use ADC and the coming elections as a launch pad to bring in a new generation of leaders into governance concourse of the nation. We also appeal to all well-meaning leaders to continue their mentoring and guidance as we journey in our nation-building pathway.”
“We are building structures all over Nigeria, our aim is to restore the lost glory of Nigeria’s democracy. I am not surprised that ADC was chosen by the leaders of CNM as the party to work with. I have been with the leaders of the coalition, from Obasanjo to Babangida to TY Danjuma, and one thing is interesting; I saw the passion to change Nigeria in all of them. I was not surprised they chose ADC because we also share a similar passion. I am the chairman of Coalition for New Nigeria (CNN) which comprises 35 political parties, and I cannot tell you that they will collapse.” he said.
The chairman however stated that the party has not decided on which zone of Nigeria would the presidential candidate emerge from. According to him, the party is still working on molding its internal democratic mechanism to ensure that all its candidates for elective positions in 2019 were produced through transparent process.
